The number 1 killer in America? Heart disease. Number 2? Cancer. Number 3? Iatrogenesis.
Have you ever heard of iatrogenesis? The word doesn’t even sound that harmful. It comes from two Greek words – iatros – meaning physician, and genesis – meaning created. Yes, the number 3 killer in America is death by doctor.
Did you know this? Wasn’t it plastered all over the newspapers? Unbelievably, it was not broadcast on cable news channels, daily newspapers or on the radio.
This might make you suspect the origin of my claim. Did it come from some crazy tabloid? Some off-the-wall Website?
Well, that depends. It depends on whether you consider the Journal of the American Medical Association as a crazy tabloid. I really don’t think it is. These statistics were published clearly and convincingly in the most esteemed medical journal in the world.
I’d like to venture into how and why doctors kill, and give you some alternatives to consider.
First, let me qualify my statements. I do not consider doctors to be bad people. As we’ll examine in the next few minutes, it is the system that the doctors are forced to operate within that causes all these deaths.
How many deaths are we talking about? Death by doctor kills over 200,000 people each year. Cancer takes over 500,000 lives, and heart disease takes 600,000.
Death by doctor includes several types of problems:
- unnecessary surgery, resulting in death
- medication errors and other types of errors
- fatal drug reactions
- infections from hospitals
Essentially, each of these causes was separated from the cases where the patient would have died anyway. For instance, if someone was dying of a heart attack and a medication was applied that quickened the patient’s death, it’s not fair to say the medication was the killer. That would be like saying someone who fell off a cliff died of a heart attack that they suffered mid-way down.
But hospitals are dangerous places. The primary reason for people dying unnecessarily in a hospital is the pharmaceutical drug. This is a strange thing to hear. We know that drugs have saved many lives, and we tend to hold the drugs in great esteem. But there is a flipside. Many of the most commonly prescribed drugs are also terrible killers, due to bad patient reactions and the possibility of human error in administering the drugs.
Pharmaceutical drugs are immensely powerful, in a good way and a bad way. Take the right drug at the right time and it will help your illness in a dramatic way. Take the wrong drug at the wrong time and it will kill you on the spot.
I’ve said we have great respect for pharmaceutical drugs. Maybe our problem is that we don’t respect them enough! These powerful, dangerous pills should really be something we handle gingerly, almost like a bomb. How many bombs killed 80,000 people since 1999? Vioxx did.
It seems to me that our best solution is to find health practitioners who treat drugs with as much respect as they deserve. A practitioner who uses pharmaceutical drugs as a last, best resort, who tries everything else possible before they prescribe these powerful, dangerous substances.
Some people think that doctors like this don’t exist. I used to think so too. But once I looked a little harder, I found lots of them. In fact, I believe there is a revolution going on. Doctors are switching to a better, safer path for their patients, and they are tired of being “the number 3 killer.” Wouldn’t that grate on your nerves too?
I think you should seek out “alternative-tolerant” doctors who will use the safest, cheapest, effective remedies first, and only then move you on to the expensive, dangerous pharmaceutical drugs.
Safe, cheap solutions might be exercises, herbs, vitamins, acupuncture, bodywork, dietary changes or other types of healing.
I know this may sound a bit odd to some of you, but please consider the alternative. Using pharmaceutical drugs as a “first resort” got us where we are today. With so many problems in the existing system, aren’t we obligated to search for a better way for our own health and the health of our families?
I’d like to ask you to consider switching to one of these doctors as your primary physician. I realize it might be a longer drive or perhaps cost a little more per visit. But can you afford to be a statistic? Can you afford to die at the hands of the number 3 killer in America?
The only way we’ll reduce the number of deaths by doctor is to change the way we use doctors. Send the medical system a signal that you want better, less dangerous care, and that you want to live!

Political ActivismComments Off
Though its present image does not draw great impression from the regional and international audiences, Cambodia, to me, is one of the world’s states that many other states can learn from.
Its journeys across almost every stage of political regimes, prosperous history and stigmatized present day and other political spiral that won over the forecasting power of Henry Kissinger, Advisor to the American President Richard Nixon, has made the current politics of Cambodia a trauma one, or I would call a “leprosy subject” in the universities.
What are the motives of Cambodia’s sluggish development? Are Cambodian leaders thinking independently and in sovereignty? Are current leaders really caring about people’s interests? Are those leaders boasting the genuine leadership faculty? These are the questions that make the selection of the political leader a very hard subject in the Cambodian society.
Selections of the political leader in Cambodia, to those who have informative mind, prove a very difficult one. So what are the reasons behind their hard selection? Its sometimes-vertical and sometimes-horizontal political atmospheres and its unstable spiral in economy have been the eminent homework that makes us difficulty in fulfilling our job of selecting our leader. However, there are much more factors that are contributing to our head age.
With all the above evils, selecting the political leader in Cambodia is not to opt out “from the best of the best”, but pick the one who has committed the lest crimes; nationally and internationally, publicly and individually.

Stretching and yoga aren’t just for people who can fold
themselves up like pretzels, or movie stars who have nothing
better to do with their days! It can be a beneficial practice to
all who use it, and one doesn’t have to adopt the worldview of
the swamis in order to reap benefits from it. The pace of our
lives these days is crazy—some would argue destructive.
Yoga proponents say that learning the art form will not make you
dull, but more magnetic, and show you the importance of slowing
down. Yoga’s ‘inactivity’ can insert a moment to breathe in the
midst of the hustle and bustle of life, can clear your mind, and
re-energize you with just a few simple techniques.
The first lesson in any Yogic theory is how to relax. This
doesn’t mean you flop on the sofa and become a couch potato;
instead it is defined as ‘a conscious transfer of energy from
one department of nature to another….’ Even if you do this for 5
minutes at a time over a beverage, you’re on your way to
relaxing. It will increase your efficiency—try it and see!
Stretching involved in yoga can be very simple: lie on the floor
without pillows. Remove your shoes and wear whatever is loose
fitting and comfortable to you. Stretch your arms over your head
while stretching your legs and feet. Close your eyes and let
your head roll to one side.
Now release each part of your body and consciously permit each
limb, each ‘section’ of your body, to meld in to the floor.
Permit yourself to feel as if you are sinking and think of a
peaceful scene. This will likely feel very odd to you the first
time you do it, but the relaxation that you bring each part of
your body will be refreshing!
Now we’ll work on stretching! Lie on the floor as you did for
your full-body relaxation, only this time, interweave your
fingers above your head. If you turn your palms upward, you’ll
feel a bigger stretch along your ribs and spine. Stretch your
arms as far above your head as possible, pointing your toes and
pushing them towards the floor so you can feel every muscle
between your head and feet.
Once you have stretched every part of your body, release! Now go
back in to your full-body relaxation mode, remembering to start
at the head and relax your way down to your toes.
Now work on the ‘complete breath’ that yoga teaches. Lying flat
on the floor without pillows, place your hands gently on your
diaphragm. Slowly exhale as much as you can. Very slowly begin
to inhale through the mouth, evenly and without sudden stops.
You will feel your diaphragm expand at this point—keep going.
Now exhale through your mouth, using a slight force, expelling
as much air as possible.
You have just completed your ‘complete breath’ in yogic
teaching! If you build up the number of complete breaths per
day, you’ll notice less tension, better rest, and a more relaxed
you. Release the stress of your day and become who you were
designed to be!

One of the most commonly overlooked aspects of wedding speech
preparation is analyzing the audience. Professional speakers
will tell you that they generally spend a good portion of their
preparation time trying to understand who will be listening to
them speak. The reason they do this is that having information
about your audience is a valuable asset when you begin writing
your speech. An audience analysis will tell you what to put in
and what to leave out. Other factors related to the audience
will give you an idea of how to effectively deliver your speech.
In this article, we’ll explore why audience information is so
important and how that information can help you create an
excellent speech.
Why Audience Information is Necessary for the Wedding Speech
First, let me eliminate one misconception you might have about
your audience. Some wedding speakers falsely believe that their
main audience is just the bride and groom. That’s not the case.
Your speech is actually being delivered to the entire wedding
party and all of the wedding guests. You don’t want to forget
those other people because their impression of your speech could
also influence its reception by the bride and groom.
For example, let’s say you chose to include an adult joke in
the speech because you know the groom would find it funny.
You’ve forgotten that his mother and grandmother are also in the
audience and didn’t find it amusing at all, especially since
many of their older friends were in attendance. Even though the
groom may very well have loved your speech, he may not have
liked the lecture he got from his mother because of it.
You want to prevent problems that from arising. For that
reason, you need to keep your speech audience-centered which
means that as you are planning and preparing your speech, you
are keeping the audience at the forefront of your mind. It means
that when you make decisions related to your speech, you do so
by thinking about how the audience would react, not just what
you would prefer or what you think the newly married couple
would prefer.
Before you start throwing up your hands and saying the speech
isn’t worth all this trouble, let me just remind you that this
is nothing different than what you do in daily conversations
already. When you talk to friends or co-workers, you do so by
taking into consideration their beliefs and feelings. Unless you
were extremely insensitive, you wouldn’t tell a friend who
supports animal rights that you took a gun and killed a squirrel
just for fun, for example. The reason is known as identification.
Identification is “a process in which speakers seek to create a
bond with the audience by emphasizing common values, goals, and
experiences.” More simply put: when you are speaking to one or
one hundred people you want to find some way of relating to them
so that they’ll be more receptive to your speech. It also means
that you’ll do your best not to say or do anything that would
offend a large portion of your audience, unless your purpose is
to shock them which is never a good idea in a wedding speech.
As I explained already, you use identification every day as you
communicate with the various people in your life. The only
difference is that you normally aren’t even aware that you’re
doing it. When you are planning the wedding speech, however, you
have to be aware of it and focus on it.
One last thing that you need to realize about audiences is that
they are, by nature, egocentric. Egocentric simply means that
they are focused on what concerns them most. Wedding Speeches
bore them unless the content affects them directly.
I’m telling you this not to scare you with the idea that all of
your audience is going to be bored by your speech but to
encourage you to include everyone in your speech in some way.
Wedding guests are typically divided up into three main groups:
family members, friends, and co-workers. If you include a
mention of these groups in your speech, then you are more likely
to keep their attention. You might say for example, “Sherri and
Kevin are blessed to be here in the presence of so many of their
most treasured friends. I know I speak for them when I say we
are thankful to have all of you here to help us celebrate this
wonderful event.”
The audience’s egocentrism is also one reason why so many
speakers resort to humor when it comes to wedding speeches. When
you add jokes or tell funny stories about the bride and groom,
the audience knows instinctively that you have put those
elements into your speech for their benefit. You’re trying to
entertain them and, if your humor is appropriate and effective,
they will respond in a positive manner to your attempts. Keep in
mind, however, that humor is not something everyone can do.

Should I lease a car or buy it?
Think of a term life insurance policy as leasing a car. When you lease a car you get the benefits of using the car, but when you stop paying you don’t have a car anymore. As with term insurance as long as you pay your premiums you get the benefit of the term life insurance policy, but when you stop paying, you no longer have any coverage.
Whole life or “permanent policies” are designed to build up a cash value. So similar to buying a car you have an asset that you can keep. Unlike a car, hopefully this asset will grow in value. Whole life, Universal life and Variable Universal life are all different types of permanent insurance. Permanent insurance, most of the time, is meant to keep until you die or as a saving vehicle.
The way the policy grows in value gives you the different names of insurance such as, Whole Life, Universal Life, and Variable Universal Life. That leads to the understanding of the different types of permanent policies.
” Whole Life- Is an insurance policy where premium payments are usually the same throughout the life of the policy, as is the death benefit. You usually need to pay the premiums as long as the policy is in force.
” Universal Life - Is an insurance policy where premium payments may be changed and the death benefit can also be changed by the owner. Usually if the death benefit is being raised you will have to show some evidence of insurability (medical information) or other information requested. Your policy grows at a stated interest rate which changes every so often.
” Variable Universal Life - Is an insurance policy where premium payments may be changed and the death benefit can also be changed by the owner. Usually if the death benefit is being raised you will have to show some evidence of insurability (medical information) or other information requested. Your policy grows at the rate of your investment choice you choose. Since you may invest in market instruments similar but not exactly like mutual funds. Your policy can lose value causing larger premium payments than expected.
Take a step back and think about it from the insurance company’s point of view, its easier to understand the difference. A portion of the cash value that builds in the insurance contract will pay for the “cost of insurance”.
Whole life- The insurance company is taking most of the risk. They are paying a death benefit to you no matter what happens to the cash value in the account. As long as you make your payments the insurance company has to pay your death benefit. This may be the most expensive.
Universal life - The insurance company is taking some risk. The policy grows give the current interest rate it pays. At times you are only able to earn low interest rates. You may need to make up more payments to keep your policy.
Variable Universal life - The insurance company has taken the least amount of risk. In the Variable policy the rate of return is variable, meaning you don’t know how fast your policy will grow or shrink. This type of policy is most likely used for someone who is younger and can ride out the volatility of their portfolio. Since you take on the most risk in this type of policy it usually has the smallest premiums.

One of the oldest companies, Olympus has had a long and historical journey. Olympus digital cameras are being used all over the world today. Let us take a look at the glorious history of Olympus here.
Olympus was started way back in the year 1919 under the name of Takachiho Seisakusho. In fact, the first optical product made by the company was not a camera, but a microscope! The name ‘Olympus’ was introduced in 1921 as a trade name for the company’s optical products.
There is an interesting story attached to the name of Olympus. It has a deep, deep meaning attached to it as well. According to Greek mythology, Olympus is the mountain where the Gods live. And, Takachiho is the mountain where the Gods live according to the Japanese texts. In fact, all the names associated with Olympus cameras have a hidden meaning to themselves. For example, the first product made by Olympus for photographic purposes was the Zuiko 75mm/F4.5 lens in 1936. This is an abbreviation coined from the name of Olympus optical plant (Mizuho Kogaku-kenkyujo) and also has a hidden Chinese meaning.
In the ’30s, Olympus introduced many different types of cameras. Due to the world wars, production suffered from time to time till the ’40s. The Twins Reflex camera was introduced in 1950s and became instantly popular. In fact, hundreds of models based on this technology were developed by several manufacturers. But it was the Olympus Rolleiflex which set the standard for these cameras in the industry.
However, it was the Olympus PEN which was launched in 1959-60, which established Olympus as the manufacturer of small cameras in the market. The PEN was light, small, innovatively designed and could take 72 shots in one roll! It became increasingly popular and helped Olympus to gain hold of the market. After this, there was no looking back for Olympus and it went from strength to strength.
As far as digital cameras are concerned, by the 80’s and ’90s, the video camera and the consumer digital cameras were already present in the market. However, they were not of very high quality and could only used for web publishing or low-res prints. But, by the late ’90s, technology had advanced greatly and prices had also dropped, hence consumers were now going in for digital cameras more and more. It was at this time, in the year 1996, that Olympus introduced its P&S style cameras which had a resolution of 810.000 pixels. Slowly and steadily, Olympus came up with a 2 mega pixel and then a 3 mega pixel camera by the year 2000. At this time, one of the significant launches of Olympus was the 2.11 mega pixel model C-211 which also had an in-built Polaroid printer.
Today, Olympus is considered to be one of the well-known digital camera manufacturers in the industry. The latest digital cameras by Olympus are:
D-Series: Simple point-and-shoot cameras for beginners.
C-Series: Digital cameras for advanced photographers.
Stylus: Stylish cameras in attractive colors and designs.
E-System Digital SLR’s: Professional SLR’s for digital cameras.
Kevin Rockwell worked as a network TV cameraman for 20 years shooting news and sports. Now a devoted fan of digital photography and video he works to gather information, tips and news for digital camera users. Oh and he loves to shoot pictures of his kids playing sports.

Community college costs are normally lower than four year universities. Students can take classes at community college and earn credits toward a two year or four year degree program at a lower cost.
Community colleges are local colleges that offer two year degrees, certifications and many classes will transfer later to a four year university. On average community college costs are lower than four year universities.
The national average college tuition cost for public universities is $4,694 per year for in state residents. This figure includes both tuition rates and fees for a full time student.
The average college tuition cost at private colleges and universities is around $20,000 per year in tuition and fees.
Now compare this to the average yearly tuition for a community college. The average cost of community college tuition is only $2,076 per year. This is less than half than a traditional four year public university and much less than a private college.
Attending a community college will also help offset the costs if a student decides to continue his or her education toward a bachelor’s degree. Since community college costs are lower students are not likely to be accumulating student loans which will help their financial state in long term future.
Another factor to consider is that each year tuition rates rise. In fact college tuition costs increase at about twice the general inflation rate, about 8% per year. The future and long term costs are something that all college students, current and future, should consider when choosing a college.
Even though community college tuition costs and four year college costs increase, many students benefit from financial aid programs. Government grants such as the Pell grant provide funding for many college students. In fact students who attend community colleges may qualify for grants that would cover most or all of their community college tuition costs.
Scholarship programs awarded by colleges, businesses and non profit organizations are also available to help students defray the cost of community college tuition. With a combination of savings, financial aid, and scholarships many students today are able to afford college tuition costs and further their education.

This is true that men with diabetes have an increased risk of developing erectile dysfunction compared with men without diabetes. Erectile dysfunction in diabetes has many potential causes, including the specific diabetes complications of neuropathy and vascular disease, as well as conditions commonly associated with diabetes, such as hypertension, use of various medications or psychogenic factors.
Diabetic impotent men reported worse erectile function and intercourse satisfaction at baseline, and ED had a greater impact on their emotional life. Diabetic men with ED had significantly different trends over time in the Erectile Function, Intercourse Satisfaction, Sexual Desire, Overall Satisfaction, and the Sexual Experience.
It is well established that erectile dysfunction is a serious condition that becomes more common as men age. Many older men, however, report that they are never questioned regarding their sexual function even though older men can still have satisfactory erectile capacity and enjoy satisfying sexual relationships.
As you probably know, impotence is the main sexual problem experienced by men with diabetes. In fact, as many as 50-60% of men with diabetes experience impotence at some point. Impotence, also called male erectile dysfunction, is the inability to have and maintain an erection rigid enough for sexual intercourse.
The following factors can cause the problems men to experience diabetes-related sexual dysfunction:
a). Nerve damage caused by poor blood sugar control over a long period of time.
b). Circulation problems such as heart disease and high cholesterol, and others that relate to circulation.
c). Some medications such as blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, and stomach ulcer medications may have side effects that cause sexual dysfunction. Be sure to check with your doctor to see if any medications you’re taking could cause ejaculation or erection problems.
d). Emotional or psychological factors such as depression, anger, stress and low self-esteem. These often contribute to sexual disinterest even if they’re not the main cause.
e). Use of recreational drugs like alcohol and marijuana.
d). Low testosterone levels.
Now these days, several treatments are available for sexual dysfunction and it depend upon the physical and psychological factors specific to your condition. Cialis is probably the most well known drug that treats impotence.
Diabetes can lead to sexual problems for women also but not men only. These problems are often created by a complication known as neuropathy. Diabetic neuropathy is a nerve disorder caused by diabetes. Symptoms include numbness and sometimes pain in the hands, feet or legs. Neuropathy can also affect the nerves that control internal organs, genitals, small blood vessels and sweat glands of the skin, bladder muscles, and the gastrointestinal tract. These nerves are called autonomic nerves because they control parts of your body that you don’t move voluntarily. Autonomic neuropathy is the type of nerve disorder that causes sexual dysfunction in men and women with diabetes.
Richard Gary writting here, it was really nice experience to visit this particular site about Erectile Dysfunction. In fact,
what happened, I was just going through all the sites in which articles are posted by Medical practitionars related with
impotency that time I got your site. It has nice articles and few of them are really informative for those patients who are
suffering from impotency. By saying, it is just opposite of impotency but in Men’s life, it has become great problem and
disaster. But with the smartwork and hardwork of research teams and scientists, we have got the solution of impotency
problem.
More information can be retrieved from the official site as http://www.cialis.com, there are also other informative sites as, http://www.cialismagic.com and http://www.diabetes.org, and these sites contain a lot of information about Erectile Dysfunction and diabetes respectively and their effects.
