In recent weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to pass along no fewer than five referrals to other people in my network. I also recently received a very professional and non-pushy email from someone I’ve never met, who is a member of an organization I’m part of. He introduced himself briefly, mentioned how he knew of me, and asked about my ideal clients. He placed far more emphasis on finding out who I wanted for referrals than he did asking if I would refer business to him.
It was clear that he’s playing the “givers gain” game to grow his business. And a short time after receiving his email, as I was thinking about where to get a massage, I spotted a brochure and discount offer I had picked up from a woman at a recent networking event. Although I had other options, I chose her based on her brief presentation at the event and the offer she included with her brochure. In short, networking works!
It really got me thinking about networking and what a powerful tool we have at our fingertips. How is your “net-working?” If the answer is “not very well” then I encourage you to get busy and start making it work for you.
Consider the following:
* Experts agree that the best means of finding employment is through networking–not want ads;
* Word-of-mouth marketing is considered one of the most potent and cost-effective marketing strategies–think about how you found your hairdresser, chiropractor or favorite new restaurant;
* Networking is not just about exchanging goods and services but ideas as well. Mastermind groups, book clubs and other groups where the ideas exchanged may be far more valuable than any tangible goods are not to be underestimated!
* And don’t forget the networks of people you meet through your children’s activities, church or social organizations. When my hairdresser recently moved away, not only did I ask others for referrals but it so happened that the mom of one of the kids on my son’s baseball team is a hairstylist. I’ll be calling her when I’m ready for my next haircut.
The list could go on and on, but suffice it to say, your network is likely one of your most undervalued assets. Here are some ideas on how to maximize your networking efforts.
1) Give first. Think how great it feels when you refer someone to a new restaurant, a great movie or to a doctor you love. You usually give without expecting the other person to automatically reciprocate. Unfortunately too many people who do business networking operate by the “give me first” philosophy and then wonder why networking “doesn’t work.” Set a goal to try and make one referral a day. Before long the old “what goes around comes around” rule will kick in and others will be looking for ways to send business your way. When you become known as a resource for quality contacts your perceived value rises as well.
2) Select networking opportunities carefully. In the community where I live, you could attend networking functions morning, noon or night every day of the week and still not tap them all. You can’t do everything so have some simple criteria for selecting which networking events to attend:
* Who is the event geared to? This means you must know and be able to succinctly articulate who your target audience is. Will this this group put you in touch with people who fit that profile?
* Are you sincerely interested in the group, its purpose, etc.? Attending something just because all the “movers and shakers” will be there is a potential recipe for failure. Make sure the group fits your personal/professional interests as well as your client profile.
* Consider cultural or educational events that you have a sincere interest in. It’s much easier to make contacts in a group of people who share some personal passion or interest with you. One that has been very effective for me is the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Not only have I received excellent referrals, it’s given me a pool of over 200 professional women to refer business to. Another has been my Toastmasters group. Believe me, I don’t really market myself there, but the regular contact and opportunities to speak have helped me gain the trust of others who have been generous in sending business my way.
3) Don’t rush it. Too many networking functions are marathon business-card-passing events and most of the time those cards end up in the round file. Better to have 2-3 quality conversations and really seek to make a positive connection than have 20 conversations where both parties are simply faking interest in order to hand out a card and move on to the next victim.
4) Have a follow-up strategy. What good is it to collect business cards that you never do anything with? I ask if people would like to receive Monday Morning Coach as a natural follow-up to a conversation or speaking event. That allows me to stay connected to them on a regular basis. Even if you don’t write a weekly ezine, you can still create a simple follow-up strategy. A handwritten note following the event is the most personal; email is another option, or make a phone call and schedule time to meet with your new contacts within a week or so. The point is, don’t let the opportunity to develop a relationship die on the vine.
5) Finally, make sure you ALWAYS properly thank anyone who sends you a referral. Even if it doesn’t actually result in a business deal, thank them for thinking of you. Do it in writing if possible and as soon as possible after receiving the referral. Everyone likes to be appreciated, so let your referal sources know how much you value their trust. Nothing will reinforce their decision more than a sincere note of appreciation.
There are dozens of books on networking that go into much greater detail and depth than I have the opportunity to do here. If you’re sincere about building your business through networking, pick up one or two of them and become a student. And realize that networking is really the art of growing relationships. It takes time, care and attention, but the crop you harvest in time will be well worth it.
And I’ve come to realize the greatest riches of all are the relationships themselves. When you play the game of building relationships you really can’t lose. So what are you waiting for?

Picture if you will…
…A wealthy woman struts down the street of any city, anywhere,
wearing her prized fur coat, luxuriating in the soft feel and
warmth of it against a cold winter day. But did she even once
give a thought to exactly from where her ‘prize’ came?…
Her ‘prize’ is several animals, many skinned alive by humans who
have nothing but money in their thoughts; money which bleeds the
blood of countless and assorted breeds of animal.
While impossible to tell the stories of millions of silent
animals, I can tell the story of one silently suffering victim.
Picture if you will, a raccoon dog in an Asian land far away. An
animal who found himself in the wrong place at exactly the wrong
time.
Our furry friend may have been tempted by the promise of a bit
of food, or may have been captured from the safe sanctuary of
his wild world.
Whatever the case, the fate of this raccoon dog was sealed at
the instant of capture. He will be made into a fur coat for some
woman in another land. Here’s how this, and other animals, spend
their last hours:
After being locked in a tiny cage with no food, water, or
shelter for up to several days, many animals begin to go crazy.
They will run about their tiny confines desperately searching
precious escape. Some will never realize there is no such escape
and will continue to grow more frenzied.
Others will simply give up and stare out of the small spaces
between the wires of the cage, seemingly contentedly awaiting
their fate.
Finally, the real torture begins…
First, the animal will be slung several times to the ground,
resulting in stunning and helping to ensure the animal is
helpless and unable to fight back, or bite his tormentor.
After that is accomplished, some animals will have their necks
broken, or will have limbs or just their paws cruelly hacked off.
In between, there are more beatings, punches, kicks, and the
full body weight of a man on their necks.
Just when the animal seems to be mercifully dead, their
tormentor steps off the neck and the animal resumes its’
tortured and slowed breathing.
The tormentor begins to slice away at the animal, starting from
the hind legs and making their way up to about half their body.
After several minutes, or hours in some cases, the hind paws are
tied together and the animal is hung upside down and allowed to
swing at random.
It’s at this time that the animal is skinned- alive…
Once the skin is slit from the hind legs, it is simply pulled
from the body; pulled until the skin at the top of the head
releases its’ final shred of grip.
Some animals scream in extreme pain and fright. Others are so
badly injured that they are unable to utter a sound; they suffer
in the worst kind of silence there is.
During this process, the people doing this may laugh, joke,
talk, or even scream at the animals for some unknown infraction.
Perhaps they are upset because the animal is not suffering
enough… Or maybe it’s because the animal is not quite ready to
shed its’ skin.
Without any shred of doubt, though, the people behind this
completely inhumane and utter cruelty do not feel anything
remotely resembling compassion for these animals.
When the skin is finally torn from the body, the body is thrown
onto a pile of countless other skinned animals- some still
alive, albeit barely.
Those which are still alive are so weak from their torment that
all they can do is lie there- their bodies jerking in the
inevitable death twitch.
In the following video, at about minute five, there is one
animal that seems intent on knowing exactly who did this to him.
He tries so hard to raise his body up, but he’s only able to
turn his head.
That is enough for him to give a long, intent gaze upon either
his tormentor or the tormentor of another.
The animal then involuntarily flops down and is only able to lay
there- completely skinned and covered in his own blood- to wait
for death… death which is sure but so agonizingly slow.
This process is repeated the world over too many times to count,
every day, for one reason: money.
I, for one, cannot even begin to comprehend who would knowingly
and happily wear a fur coat knowing what happened to the source
of the coat.
We do not do this to our children, our pets, and for the most
part- other people.
So why do some cultures permit this type of torture? How can
humans actually commit to this type of behavior, knowing they
are inflicting maximum torture and horror against innocent
beings?
If you love your fur coat, feel free to continue to wear your
coat. Maybe the souls of the animals you are wearing are not
gazing intently upon their former skins from their new world and
asking you why…

Auctions, Barters, SalesComments Off
1. Determine if the product that you are going to auction is a one time sale or if you have a continuous supply of this item. This means that if it is a one time item that you are going to want to get the best price for it. The best way I found to do this is to put a reserve price on the item close to what you need to get out of it. I know that alot of people say that a reserve price will hinder the chances of selling an item, but it won’t if you try not to be greedy. If you have a continuous supply of a product, taking a $15-$20 profit is the way to go on something like a $200 Digital camera because you will have many more sales.
2. If you want a steady income on Ebay you need to find suppliers. The best way to do this is to determine what type of product you want to sell, and then start researching what that item is selling for on auction sites. Once you find a supplier that carries your product and you determine that you can profit at least 10% after your listing fees and Paypal fees if any, you are then ready to climb aboard the Ebay bandwagon.
3. The next thing you will want to do once you find the right supplier is to buy a few items to sell. This way you are going to test the suppliers quickness in getting the items to you. Also it is good if the supplier will dropship to your customers. The reason for this is sometimes you may get a item that is broke or scratched and you don’t realize it until it is time to ship to your customer. A dropshipper can send this item to your customer just like it came from you.
I hope these few little tips will help you get started in a hobby on Ebay or maybe a lucrative business.

The pedigree of the Canadian Horse goes back to the early part of the 1600’s. Originally a gift to New France from the Sun King, Louis X1V, the horse was known for its remarkable strength, endurance and hooves of steel. Habitants of Old Quebec called him, “The Little Horse of Iron”.
I first became enamoured with The Canadian Horse some years ago when I saw them on show at an agricultural exhibition. At the time I knew nothing of its history or its near extinction and revival. Then a friend urged me to read “The Little Iron Horse”, the story of The Canadian Horse. It’s a must read, she said, so I picked up a copy of the book and found the story of Canada’s National Horse as intriguing and fascinating as my friend had intimated.
The author Lawrence Scanlon, known for his national best seller, “Wild About Horses”, chronicles the glorious and rocky past of Canada’s heritage breed. The “little iron horse” was used for ploughing, riding, pulling logs, pulling a carriage and a host of other chores. Owners would often race the horses traveling home after a church service. Because of his strength the little horse of iron was used in the various wars over the centuries at home, in the U.S.A and across the waters. For decades he was cross-bred to develop a taller horse and to provide stamina for other breeds.
The pure blood line became almost extinct with only a few hundred pedigreed horses accounted for by the mid-late 20th century. It was then that the key supporters of the valiant horse rallied to re-establish the breed and for him to become Canada’s National Horse by parliamentary decree April 23, 2002.
The story of the Canadian is enriched by the personal account of Lawrence Scanlon’s experience with a sturdy Canadian bay gelding called Saroma Dark Fire Dali. Scanlon, age fifty at the time, although not new to the horse world, was green as a trainer and Dali was a green, vibrant 5 year old.
Interwoven with the history of the Canadian is a warm and sometimes humourous accounting of his training of Dali over a one and a half year period. With professional trainers and coaches at his side Scanlon goes through disciplined ground training, schooling and riding and eventually builds trust with Dali. Green horse and green rider become one. In “the Little Iron Horse” we get the perfect melding of the story of the breed and the personal odyssey of Dali, which brings it all to life.
Watch for Canada’s National Horse in an agricultural show and pick up a copy of the book, “The Little Horse of Iron ,” by Lawrence Scanlon. You’re in for a good read.

A true test for many writers that will require your attention forever…
Why do we have to focus on finding time to write?
Where exactly will we find this time?
Who knows how each writer will easily locate this “time,” but we have to realize that if we do not designate some time for our writing, it will not just magically appear!
Nobody can tell you when your “time” to write should be. We all have different schedules and various other responsibilities that effect our life.
For some mothers, like me, our best time to write may be when our children are sleeping or at school depending upon their age.
I personally find myself most relaxed and inspired to write at night after my son goes to bed (even if he falls asleep in my arms). It’s not always easy to tear yourself away from other things (like watching my little blessing with his amazingly angelic face sleep!), however, you must choose to focus on your writing.
If you find yourself devoting time to housework that does not actually need to be done immediately, you may steal an hour or more a day away from those chores to write.
If you usually watch daily soap operas and sitcoms each night, you may want to rethink your allocation of this time.
If you tend to wake up before your alarm goes off some mornings and linger under your comforter, you may want to consider getting out of bed and writing!
If you have trouble falling asleep at night, instead of flipping through the channels, get a pad and paper and write…
The list goes on - but I think you get the picture.
If you truly want to write - you can find the time - somewhere, somehow - it’s there in everyone’s busy days!

What Are Movie Download Services?
Movie download services are exactly what they sound like: a service that allows you to download movies from the Internet onto your hard drive or a DVD. Though this isn’t a new concept, it is relatively new to the legal world of consumerism. Though ‘pirates’ have been making free download of movies available for quite some time, movie studios are now getting in on the action and offering access to their movies for download the day they hit the stores in DVD format - for a fee, of course.
Who’s Who In Movie Download Services?
In the relatively new world of legitimate movie download services, there are surprisingly many players, but only a few of them are major. There’s Movielink and Sony’s CinemaNow which offer old and new movies for purchase or 24 hour rental. Rental fees are comparable to the local video store but purchase is more expensive than if you were to buy the DVD. ClickStar, backed by Danny DeVito among other big names in Hollywood, is another up and comer in the world of movie download services, but this one’s draw is that it will offer movies for download while they are still showing in the theater. It will also feature a streaming channel devoted to documentaries.
AT&T is teaming up with Vongo, another movie downloading site, to offer its DSL service in concert and duo promotions. Different from Movielink and CinemaNow, Vongo is a subscription service offered for a monthly fee which allows its members unlimited access to movies, videos, and a streaming Starz channel. Pay per view movies are available as well for an additional fee.
Movie Download Services: The Nitty Gritty
- Price - Ranging anywhere from $10-$20, the irony is downloading movies legally isn’t cheap. In order to appease the retailers who make big bucks on DVDs released in stores, the online downloading services are keeping their fees in the clouds. Which of course, doesn’t hurt their pocketbook, either.
- Availability - It depends. Different services have different deals with different movie studios. As for old movies, those are being added all the time. But the nice thing is, if they have it, you can get it - instantly.
- Space - You will need between 1200 and 2000 MBs of free space to store your movie. Depending on your system, this may be a lot or a little. Some services may allow you to burn your download to a DVD, but only if you’re buying the movie and even then, most won’t.
- Download Time - This is no time for dial-up, that’s for sure. Anything DSL and faster should get you your movie in under an hour with an average of 35 to 40 minutes, and that’s if you want it fast and grainy. If you’re willing to wait a little longer, say, up to two hours, you can download a higher quality version. A nice feature that some services offer is the ability to start watching the movie while it’s still downloading.
- Technical Requirements - At least Windows Media Player 10, fast Internet connection, Internet Explorer 6.0, Windows XP. You might be able to get away with older versions, but it isn’t recommended. And yes, did you note - it’s all PC and no Mac. That’s right. PC users only, please.
- Computer Viewing Only - Currently, that’s the state of things. That is, unless you choose a service that allows you to download it to some other electronic handheld device of your choosing, like PSP or iPod. Of course, you could always use an S-video jack to hook your computer to your TV and watch it on the big screen. Some services allow limited DVD burning, but they may restrict the DVD to playing only in the computer to which the movie was downloaded, allowing your fancy DVD player to gather dust.
- Buy Versus Rent - It’s a strange situation at this point, but different studios offer different services different licenses to different movies. So, you may only be able to rent a title through one service that another is offering for sale. Other services may not have any access to certain titles while others do. There’s no standard just yet, so it’s a bit of a crap shoot.
What’s the Benefit of Movie Download Services?
Convenience! Forget long lines at the theater, the video store being out of a new release, or waiting in virtual queue to get your mailed DVD through a subscription service. No more concern about court cases and legal fees for downloading movies illegally or spyware from file sharing applications that will slow down your computer if not cripple it beyond repair. Then, of course, there’s the fact that you can watch the newest movies as many times as you like on your personal computer and instantly upon purchase - no waiting and no driving to the store.
What’s the Downside of Movie Download Services?
At the moment, cost and restricted viewing access. You may not necessarily want to watch a movie on your computer when you just invested $2000 in a big screen HDTV. And you may not want to invest $20 in a movie that you can’t even resell online if you don’t like it. If you have a slow internet connection, the download time may be a bummer, too, especially if you’re trying to use your computer for other things while the process slows your computer to a painful snail pace. And if you use a Mac, well, obviously, the downside is that movie download services simply don’t exist. Then, what if a virus infects the computer where all your movies are stored? Yup. Have to buy them all over again.
Movie Download Services - Yay or Nay?
The state of affairs being what they are - that is, in their ugly braces and zits prepubescent stage - probably nay. Remember the first BETA machines? Or the $700 CD players back in the ’80s? When movie download service lowers their prices and speed up the technology, allow for actual DVD burnings that include the extras and TV viewings as well as access to films that are still in theaters, then yay! In the meantime, sticking with higher quality DVDs that don’t discriminate against Mac users and big screen television sets and allow for resale later on. Unless you have to see the movie This Very Second, movie download services are not yet the incredible service they have the potential to be in the future.

It's Your BusinessComments Off
1. What to look for first?…A Niche Market
Some people think that they should look for a product first and
then look for customers but in reality, it’s the other way
around.
Make a list of keywords and then use the Overture Suggestion
Tool to find out how many searches there are for each keyword.
Then, check the supply ratio for each keyword in Google.
Supply divided by Demand = Supply / Demand Ratio
In other words: Google Results divided by Overture Count =
Supply / Demand Ratio The lower the Supply/Demand Ratio number
is, the better because it tells you that there is more demand
than supply and you will make more money with this niche market.
2. Looking for a Product
Once you identify your niche market, it’s time to look for a
product.
Look for companies that once you sell the product, they ship it
to the customer.
Nowadays, people are looking for information on various topics.
Most of internet sales are on info products that the customer
can download immediately, once they pay for it with a credit
card. It doesn’t involve any shipping charge and the customer
doesn’t have to wait 2-3 weeks to receive it.
3. Building a Web Site
Once you have your niche market and products, you need to build
a web site. There are companies that would allow you to build
your own web site. You don’t need to know any HTML because they
include some type of HTML program so all you have to do is type
the information and the system will convert it to HTML.
Your web site should be simple. Make sure the navigation is easy
for your customers and don’t use too many pictures. Less is
more.
The background should be white with black letters to make it
easier to read.
Have a “subscribe form” built in your web site. It’s very
important that you collect as many email addresses as you can
because those will be your customers. Provide a free newsletter
every month with useful information to your customers.
4. Writing your Sales Letter
You don’t have to be a good writer. All you have to do is write
as if you were writing to a friend of yours.
Be honest, write the pro’s and con’s of your products. That way
you establish credibility and your customers will be more
inclined to buy from you.
5. Choosing a Web Hosting Company
Look for a company that gives you enough bandwidth, email
accounts, and support.
Look for their reliability because you don’t want to choose one
that have frequent problems with their system.
6. Autoresponder
You need to set up an autoresponder because if you’re going to
send information to your costumers, you don’t want to spend time
writing every month and sending it to them. With an
autoresponder, you can type or even copy and paste articles in
advance that will be automatically sent to your customers every
week or every month.
This may take you 1-2 hours to do but once you do it, you can
forget about it for a whole year.
7. Promote Your Web Site
You can start by advertising in Google Adwords. These are based
on a “pay-per-click” basis. You have to make sure that if your
are going to use this method of advertising, that you set up the
parameters. Establish the amount of money you will spend on a
daily basis so you don’t spend more than you can afford to.

Inflammation is a major component in most Rheumatic pain conditions or rheumatic diseases, therefore it is adviceable to eat a good amount of food that reduces inflammation and reduce the consumption of food that contains inflammatory agents. Here are some simple dietary advices that may help reduce rheumatic conditions:
THINGS YOU SHOULD EAT TO REDUCE RHEUMATISM
Fish, espesially fat fish, fish oil, olive oil, walnut oil and raps oil should be a part of your diet. The fat in these types of food, omega-3-poly-unsaturated fat or omega-9-poly-unsaturated fat, reduces inflammation. However, if you add these type of oils to your diet, you should reduce the intake of other types of fat, so that you do not get too much fat.
You should also eat much vegetables, since also these make a body chemistry that reduce inflammation.
THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT EAT TOO MUCH OF
Do not consume much soya oil and corn oil, since these types of fat increase inflammation. Most food you buy that is ready to eat from the factory or restaurant contain these types of fat. You should therefore reduce the consumption of food you do not cook yourself.
Bread, cereals and products made of corn or cereals also increase the inflammation responce, especially if they contain wheat. Wheat causes a special type of inflammation in the intestines called celiac disease in some individuals, but may also trigger inflammation of non-celiac type. However, full-corn cereals and full-corn bread are valuable types of food, so you should not stop eating them. But if you eat bread or corn products at every meal, you should reduce your intake of these and eat more potatos, beans and peas.
THINGS YOU SHOULD IDEALLY NOT EAT AT ALL
You should absolutely not consume fat that has been chemically altered to give it another consistence. This type of fat has a very negative effect on the health and may be very potent inflamatory agents. Margarine, snacks, fast food and ready made cakes or cookies often contain this kind of fat. Unfortunately this type of fat is also often added to bread. A good idea could be to bake your bread yourself.

The garage and/or workshop can be one of the most cluttered
areas of the home. Many products are available to help sort and
organize the different items in the garage, but all you really
need are some basic items that can be found around the house or
purchased at a local discount store and your own creativity.
Here are ten quick tips to get your garage organized without
spending a fortune.
1. Use a large garbage can to store bulky sports equipment such
as balls, baseball bats, and hockey sticks.
2. Small plastic food containers can be used to hold small
pieces of your current project. If you don’t complete the
project immediately, just label the cover with masking tape and
permanent marker. All the pieces will stay together and the
container will be easy to identify.
3. Install large hooks for items such as hoses, extension cords
and folding chairs. Coat hooks work great for this.
4. Plastic office organizers work great in the garage. They can
be used for sand paper, tools, and other small items.
5. Printer paper boxes are sturdy and stack well. Check with
local offices, they may just give some to you.
6. If your garage is unfinished, use the space between the studs
for shelves. Just cut a 2×4 to size and nail in place. This
works great for small containers and spray paint cans.
7. Baby food jars work great for very small item such as nails
and screws. Just screw the lid to the bottom of a shelf, fill
the jar, and twist into the lid.
8. Use canisters or jars on the workbench to hold frequently
used tools.
9. Staple twine or heavy string to a board at about one-inch
intervals leaving a little slack between staples. The loops
created by the slack work great for storing screwdrivers. Secure
the board to a convenient location.
10. Label Everything! You don’t need fancy labels, masking tape
and a permanent marker work just fine.
An excellent place to look for garage organizing ideas is in the
kitchen. Items such as silverware trays, dish strainers, spice
racks, plus a whole lot more have many potential uses in the
garage.
