Are you one of the millions of adults who have acne? Many adults are dealing with acne, the first signs of wrinkles and grey hair all at the same time - talk about physical and emotional tolls. Life just seems too unfair at times. Fortunately, there are some simple solutions for treating acne. Really. You don’t have to live with it.

To properly treat acne, one must first understand what causes it. When hair follicles and sebaceous glands become inflamed acne follows soon after. Sebum is an oily substance made by the sebaceous glands. Bacterial growth and inflammation result when too much sebum is produced. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the four basic mechanisms contributing to acne are hormones, increased sebum production, changes inside hair follicles, and bacteria.

These simple solutions require persistence and consistency.

First things first, talk to a Dermatologist. A Dermatologist can provide you with the best solutions for you based on your medical history, age, skin type etc. Depending on the severity of your acne and your individual circumstances, your Dermatologist may want to prescribe an antibiotic, a vitamin A derivative like Isotretinoin, or one of the other acne drugs now available.

Use non-comedogenic products. Non-comedogenic basically means - not likely to block the pores of the skin, or cause blackheads or acne. There are many non-comedogenic products available today, including, makeup, foundation, moisturizers, sunscreen, lip stick, etc. If it’s something that you apply to your skin you should be able to find a non-comedogenic version. In fact, you can also find non-comedogenic and medicated makeup with acne fighting ingredients like, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. These products shouldn’t clog your pores and should help treat acne.

Proper skin care is also very important. Gently washing with a facial cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulfur will also kill the bacteria that causes acne. Proactiv Solution is one such product that is used my millions of people - with great results. Whatever product you decide to use, do not scrub your face as this can irritate your skin and make your acne worse.

Even though there is no cure for acne, there are several effective methods available today to treat it. By discussing your acne with a Dermatologist you can determine the best course of action for you. In the mean time, keep your chin up - there are treatments available that will help you with your acne situation. Imagine waking up one morning and noticing how clear your face is becoming. It really is a great feeling!

Although acne is traditionally thought of as a disorder of the teenage years, long after those years have passed and the acne condition has faded, many adults are left with facial scarring from acne they had years earlier. Thanks to modern medical advancements, there are very effective treatments available today to treat acne scarring.

Acne is a disease that often leaves scars behind. There are several different kinds of acne scars. Pitting scars are commonly known as “ice pick scars.” The more crater-like scars are known as “depressed scars.” In addition, changes in the color of the skin can also occur at the site of previous acne lesions. The skin can end up darker than normal, lighter than normal, or redder than normal.

For a single ice pick scar, the most effective treatment is simple excision. However, when the scarring is more widespread, other methods must be used to treat the scars. Dermabrasion was one of the first methods developed for treating acne scars, and it is still used today. With dermabrasion, a rotating wire brush or a spinning diamond burr is used to smooth down the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a new layer of skin replaces the abraded skin, resulting in an improved appearance in the treated area. However, dermabrasion can require 10-20 days to heal, and may result in redness that can persist for several months. For these reasons, other methods were developed that have quicker recoveries and fewer side effects.

We are now using the Fraxel laser for acne scarring. We believe that the Fraxel laser is the best modality available today for treating more generalized acne scarring. With the Fraxel, the facial skin is resurfaced over a series of 4 or 5 treatments. Because the Fraxel laser preserves normal healthy skin between the areas of skin that the laser has treated, healing and recovery occur more quickly after each laser treatment.

We have been extremely impressed by the improvement in acne scarring after Fraxel laser treatment. The Fraxel laser is a “home run” when it comes to the treatment of acne scarring.

Our patients who have acne scarring are invited to call our office and make an appointment to have their scarring evaluated. In addition to scar excision, dermabrasion, and Fraxel laser resurfacing, other treatments for acne scarring are also available. Thanks to the development of a number of different techniques, acne scars can be treated with a variety of safe and effective procedures that improve the appearance of a patient’s skin. With all of the modalities available today for treating acne scarring, no one should ever have to live with their acne scars.

The nature of hair is to grow. That’s why laser clinics and other so called “permanent” hair removal methods cannot and will not guarantee permanent hair removal results. Once you better understand hair and the hair growth cycle you’ll know why claims of permanent hair removal are like claims of permanent weight loss: dubious. Without continued vigilance, hair, like weight, will come back.

There are three key factors to understanding hair and hair growth: types of hair, the hair growth cycle, and follicle activation.

Most people have three types of hair: vellus, intermediate and terminal.

* Vellus: Small, colorless hairs often referred to as peach fuzz.

* Intermediate: Thin, shortish hairs between vellus and terminal (hence the name) typically exhibiting some lower level of pigmentation.

*Terminal: Fully pigmented or gray, deep-rooted, coarse hairs. These are the hairs most consumers want removed.

All hairs, regardless of type, have a three-stage growth cycle. The first phase is anagen or the active growing phase. Depending on the body area somewhere between 10% and 90% of hairs are actively growing. The second phase is catagen, a transitional phase that is the shortest of the three phases. The third and final phase is telogen, the inactive phase. This is the longest phase and lasts until the hair is shed and the cycle repeats itself. This phase can last up to a year.

The final point to consider is follicle activation. Our skin is covered with thousands and thousands of follicles. Many follicles are like volcanoes: dormant but not extinct. Even though these follicles aren’t currently producing hair they can be activated at any time. The primary catalysts are hormones. If you have any experience with teenagers, pregnancy or just getting older (did your husband get back hair for his 45th birthday?) you know exactly what I’m talking about. And as sure as some people want to get rid of hair, others want it to grow again and seek products to stimulate follicles (see Rogaine). In short, you can’t keep a good follicle down so new hairs are likely to grow even after a “permanent” hair removal procedure.

Consumers have a reasonable expectation that the word permanent, when used in conjunction with hair removal, actually means existing perpetually. However, as we’ve shown, the nature of hair is to grow. Therefore, the so called permanent hair removal industry is seeking to redefine the word “permanent.”

It’s fair to say that permanent hair removal is achieved when a particular hair follicle is rendered impotent or incapable of generating new hair. But, because follicles are so numerous, hair is likely to emerge from nearby follicles. So, even if “permanent” hair removal is achieved (i.e. a follicle destroyed), the area that was treated is still likely to produce new hairs.

This fact has given rise to lesser claims of “permanent hair reduction.” The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) describes “permanent hair reduction” as, “The long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs regrowing after a treatment regime.” It goes on to state, “Permanent hair reduction does not imply the elimination of all hairs in the treatment area.” This is when the whole conversation begins to sound like a politician reading “Alice In Wonderland.”

So just what is permanent about “permanent hair removal?” The answer to this question gets more elusive when you consider that a significant percentage of consumers don’t respond to either electrolysis or laser hair removal. Things become grayer still when regrowth rates for laser-treated follicles are estimated at somewhere between 20% and 80%, and 10-50% for electrolysis.

The bottom line is that hair grows. That’s just what it does. While laser hair removal treatments and electrolysis can effectively destroy active follicles, calling either method permanent is like pulling a few dandelions and declaring your lawn free of weeds forever.

When you factor in the cost, the pain, the potential for scarring and other real health risks associated with so called “permanent” hair removal techniques, you might want to reconsider a temporary hair removal method that has been around for centuries: waxing.

Waxing isn’t permanent. But it works.

What Is The Origin Of The Word Trichologist?

The word Trichologist originated in Greece. Trikhos is the Greek word meaning hair.

What Is A Trichologist?

A Trichologist is a hair stylist that is trained to recognize the symptoms and treat problems related to the hair and scalp. These problems include Psoriasis, hair loss, Alopecia, baldness

What Does A Trichologist Do?

A Trichologist is kind of like a hair detective. In the initial consultation, a Trichologist will ask a lot of questions. Answering honestly will only aid in the treatment of hair loss making things sound better than they really are can only lead to misdiagnoses.

The Trichologist will first ask for a family history. This is important because if the bald gene is in the family history it can help the Trichologist find the best way to treat the hair loss sufferer. He will ask what a regular day consists of, what your nutritional habits are, what type of medications you are taking, he will also ask if you are allergic to any medications, and what your lifestyle is like. This is done to determine what your stress level is. This can play a big part in hair loss.

You will also be asked what your hair care routine is, and then an examination of your scalp will be performed. If the Trichologist feels it is necessary, a hair analysis will be done. This is completely painless.

It will seem like an awful lot of questions, but to the Trichologist, is all very much needed to make the correct diagnosis.

A Trichologist treats more than just hair loss. He or she treats scalp and hair problems that can lead to hair loss as well. This person will devise a hair care plan to keep your hair luxurious and healthy.

Often, the Trichologist can diagnose hair and scalp problems at the time of the initial consultation and treatment options are then discussed at that time.

When it comes to actual hair loss, the Trichologist will refer you to your primary care physician for blood work. This will determine if there are any illnesses that have gone unchecked. The Trichologist can offer options for hair loss when the blood test results have been given.

A Trichologist is not a medical doctor, and cannot order blood tests themselves so the last step is a necessary one.

How Can I Find A Trichologist?

Trichology is still in its fairly new to the world. Although it originated in the United Kingdom in 1902, it slowly made its way across the world. There are not yet any laws that govern Trichology, therefore anyone who can read a book can call themselves a Trichologist. Since there are no medical diagnosis’ given, or medications prescribed, it is not a crime.

Experts advise extreme caution. People suffering from hair loss are extremely vulnerable, and since anyone can call himself or herself a Trichologist there are plenty of con artist out there willing to take advantage.

To find a good Trichologist, do a simple Google search for hair salons or associations in the state in which you live. Either of these methods will give you information and telephone numbers of reputable Trichologists in your area. Experts also advise to ask for references of past clients. If they were happy with the results, it will make you feel much more at ease.

How does one go about treating cellulite that has attacked their body? Well that is a question that is asked more times than many people would believe. There is no one right or wrong answer for such a question, but there is some hope of getting some relief with a cellulite body treatment. This is a matter that any people are looking for a solution for so the cellulite be eliminated on a permanent basis but that is not possible in most circumstances. What you have to understand is that cellulite is a natural thing. Sure it may look unnatural in all instances but it is something that could attack anyone if the conditions inside their body reach a certain point. So you must know that there are ways to fight cellulite but if you want to be rid of it forever you need to make some lifestyle changes that may not be all that pleasant when you think about it. The cure for cellulite is not there and there is little hope that a standard cure will actually become a reality anytime in the near future. In order for a cure to be found they first must figure out how to stop the body from processing the fat cells that turn into cellulite and that can actually be dangerous when you consider the fact that we need the fat that is stored for the energy. Of course there are things that we can do about the cellulite that we already have and one of those is the cellulite body treatment.

The cellulite body treatment is a topical application that helps the body to get rid of the dimples that are formed when cellulite attaches itself to the skin. In essence you are treating the appearance that is caused by cellulite and not the actual cellulite itself but that is nothing out of the ordinary. Most people would not even realize that they had cellulite be eliminated if it did not have any outward symptoms. The poor appearance of the body is what most people are concerned with and that is what they want to reverse. This is where the cellulite body treatment will come in. There are topical treatments that can be used for just about any area of the body that is attacked by cellulite and that means that you will need to be sure to check the label. There is nothing that is harmful about these types of products and most of them are completely natural and safe for all users.

Most of us have heard that too much hat-wearing or poor circulation to the scalp can cause hair loss. Theses causes all have been proven to be myths, and the real causes of hair loss are stress, health, and hormones.

Stress can cause your hair to literally fall out. Usually the hair loss occurs 3 months after you`ve gone through the stressful period. Then you will need another 3 months after you begin losing hair for your hair growth to begin again ( if the stress has been diffused ). Your bodies built in healing process considers your emotional problem so important, that it ignores your hair putting it into a resting phase. This resting phase is known as Telogen Effluvium. Stress can also trigger genetic hair loss. If your already losing hair stress will cause you to lose hair even faster. So stress plays a big role in hair loss, keep your blood pressure down!

Health is also a factor in hair loss. Damaged blood vessel linings can inhibit your hair growth. This is because these blood vessel linings normaly produce endothelium-derived relaxing factor (E.D.R.F.) or nitric oxide (N.O.). Studies also show that there is a strong relationship between people with heart disease experienceing hair loss. Also, diabetics have a higher risk of experiencing hair loss.

Lastly, male hormones called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is known to be the most common reason for male pattern hair loss. DHT is produced from testosterone which is produced by the enzyme 5-apha reductase. DHT has a very high affinity being up to ten times more potent than testosterone. Your DHT hormones can be balanced which medication, these medications will resurrect your hair follicles bringing them out of their resting phase and your hair will begin to grow again. The most popular hair loss medication is Propecia, Propecia can be bought through the online pharmacy I will link to at the bottom of this article. An inbalance of DHT triggers and autoimmune response in pattern loss, which initiates an attack on your hair follices. Gradually your hair follices will become inflammed putting your hair in a resting phase which causes hair to only fall out not grow.

Half of the men and women in just the U.S. suffer from hair loss. The good news is hair loss is no longer something you have to live with. There are many treatments out there, some will correct the inbalance of DHT in your body to allow you to grow your own hair again, some simply need patience or counseling, and of course you can turn to expensive hair transplant surgery. But why get to this point, just know the three factors that cause hair loss and your chances of having a full head of hair, go way up!

The author of this article is a health expert representing MyQualityMeds.Com online Mexican pharmacy where you can order Propecia for less. Here you can get Propecia no prescription needed here.

Descartes once wrote, “I think, therefore I am!” and ‘hidden’ in plain view amongst those five small words - for all the world to see - lays the secret to unlimited success. Do you see it?

Oh all right… I’ll ‘fess up. It’s so simple it’s… (Drum roll please)…

The power of CHOICE.

Yup, that’s right - choice. Free will. Raspberry, chocolate or vanilla. Up or down. Hot or cold. Choice.

It’s the simple art of choosing: of making a conscious (and sometimes unconscious) choice.

What clothes to wear, what breakfast cereal to eat, what route to drive to work, what donut to have with your coffee. It’s all about choice.

We make quite literally millions of choices everyday… and they’re all important.

Why are they important? Because they colour your day-to-day world and determine your future. Yes, even that apparently innocent choice to have the donut with sprinkles on the top…

Okay, so what does ’sprinkles’ have to do with tires? A heck of a lot actually.

Permit me to explain.

In business we’re faced with a constant stream of choices. How we respond (not react) is what determines the outcome. What you decide to think about something is your choice. If you choose to look at life and business as a challenge - it will be. If you choose to look at life as a wonderful journey - it will be that. Whatever you think it is - you’re right.

Think about that for a moment. Whatever YOU think your life is… is

Woah! A Matrix moment… Just like when Neo realizes he’s been living in a dream world and he’s about to step through the looking glass to take on the machines.

Now, if you’ve read my other articles (and why wouldn’t you?) you’d have read the article about Nazir Mawani from “More Than Tires”. Now there’s a man who understands the power of choice.

During that interview I cannot recall one moment when he sounded bitter, angry or resentful about anything. He was just so darned upbeat - so positive - so happy. It’s all a choice. And Nazir knows it.

He openly spoke about his passion for life and how he wished more people would grasp the simple truth that each day is what you make it. It’s no more complex than that.

If you remember, Nazir had successfully operated dozens of businesses and still seems unjaded by the rigours of daily life. And don’t think that life has always been a bed of roses for Nazir - it hasn’t been. Life has thrown him plenty of curve balls - the kind of curve balls that might send some folks running for the locker rooms calling the game because of rain.

Nope, Nazir has taken his lumps and risen up from failures and he’s still smiling.

Making choices takes practise. It also takes a sense of responsibility. You need to realize that you are the creator of your own destiny - in all things. Remember, no choice is a choice. So you can’t plead ignorance when something fails on you.

And the best way to help make choices is to arm yourself with as much information as you can get. Read voraciously. Listen to the news. Talk to like minded people. Talk to people with alternate viewpoints. Think and immerse yourself in whatever you wish.

And when life taps you on the shoulder and you need to make a choice - you’ll be ready.

So do you want raspberry, chocolate or vanilla?

Back and body acne is a common problem for many acne sufferers. Unfortunately, there are not as many treatment options available for those that suffer from body acne, and just as with normal acne treatment, most of these treatments simply do not work. In order to put an end to stubborn back and body acne, you need to understand your skin and treat it effectively.

Body acne is different from facial acne.

Because the skin on areas such as your back is different from the skin on your face, the type of acne you suffer from can be different as well. Generally, almost all cases of facial acne are caused by an excessive production of skin oil (sebum) by the glands in your pores. This is largely the case for body acne as well. However, besides skin oil, your pores can also be clogged by a build-up of dead cells. The important thing to understand is that areas such as your back may be much more susceptible to this later cause of acne.

The layer of skin on your back is thicker than on your face, and is less frequently exposed to the elements and other factors that could aid in exfoliation (the process of shedding dead skin cells). Many people only half-heartedly wash their backs in the shower, and this may simply not be enough to scrape away those dead cells.

To make sure you’re exfoliating your entire body properly, leave that bar of soap alone. Buy some gentle body wash and a bath sponge with some texture to it. Wash thoroughly every day in those hard-to-reach places. If you need to purchase a back-scrubber to reach everywhere, then get one. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t need to scrape hard against your skin. Any sponge will usually exfoliate the top layer of your skin much better than your hands.

Once you begin exfoliating properly, you’ll probably notice results fast, but there’s still the matter of preventing acne from forming in the first place.

Take a moment to consider if you are doing anything that causes acne. If you frequently wear clothing that isn’t quite clean, you may be giving bacteria an extra opportunity to form. This is especially important for clothing that hugs close to your skin and doesn’t breath well. If you wear tight clothes and exercise, make sure not to sit around in sweaty clothes for long.

Can acne treatments help?

Chances are that many of the same acne treatments that work on your face will work on your back and body, but they may not be quite as potent on the thicker skin of your back. Reading the reviews for some acne skin care products may help you learn which one is right for you. However, if you really want to prevent acne from forming, you need to prevent your oil glands from over-producing. Internal acne treatments are the best choice for this, as they are the only treatments that can really prevent acne, and it’s also just easier to take a pill rather than trying to apply a cream in a place such as your back. There are a few vitamin supplements that can help with acne prevention.

Vitamin A can help by strengthening your skin cells and reducing the production levels of your oil glands. However, too much vitamin A can have serious side effects, so it’s best to take it simply with a multivitamin so that you are sure to get your recommended daily value. Zinc is a mineral that also aids in regulating your oil glands, and is a powerful antioxidant that can eliminate toxins in your skin cells. Taking a zinc supplement every day has been shown to reduce acne for many. Too much zinc can cause stomach pain, so just be sure to listen to your body.

Vitamin B5 is the safest and most effective vitamin for acne treatment. The doses required are higher than for other vitamins, but since B5 is water-soluble there is no health risk at all. Vitamin B5 assists oil regulation by enhancing the rate at which your body metabolizes skin oil, and thus can prevent most cases of acne when taken in sufficient doses.

By exfoliating properly on the outside and preventing acne on the inside, almost anyone can be rid of body acne in just a few weeks.

Fat transfer has been successfully performed for the last 25-30 years. It has a long track record of success with proven permanent results. It has been documented that fat transfers do live through techniques used by many plastic surgeons. Fat transfer has fallen into more respect in recent years. In the past, many physicians and plastic surgeons believed that fat taken from one part of the body and put into another part of the body absorbed in its new location. Photographic documentation has shown this not to be the case, as a few examples have occurred in which a person having had fat transfer into the face gained a significant amount of weight, as much as 80-100 pounds. In locations where the fat transfer took place in the face, the area was actually overly protruding and did not look like a normal contour. These are rare exceptions but, in fact, it is advisable for a person who has had fat transfer not to gain large amounts of weight because the living fat cells that have been transferred into their face can, in fact, enlarge and potentially even distort the area where they are located.

Physicians doing fat transfer need to have experience in performing this procedure, which takes approximately one hour under local anesthesia and should be done in a clean, certified operating room facility. Many physicians who do cosmetic surgery are not equipped to do fat transfer because of the technical considerations and the sterility needed along with the one hour of operating time under local anesthesia. This is why fillers made by pharmaceutical companies have come into favor, in that they take only a few minutes to place into position and can be ordered directly in a sterile vial and injected to fill in soft tissue areas throughout the face; however, all of these are temporary and ultimately do absorb; therefore, in the long-term picture, they are much more expensive. However, fillers are favored by many physicians because they do require a far less degree of surgical skill and are ultimately absorbable, therefore, any over-correction would self-correct after several months. Any filler that is permanent, I feel, is potentially risky because it is a foreign body injected into the face, which could cause problems in the future. Many new fillers are coming into the market on an almost monthly basis. Many have not had a proven track record, and the consumer should be wary of having the newest and latest filler injected into the facial area.

Fat Transfer usually takes one to three sittings in order to increase the subcutaneous tissue where it is injected. Common areas for fat transfer are in the upper and lower lips, laugh lines, frown lines, and cheeks. Fat transfer is also used to fill in soft tissue defects from various traumatic injuries or possibly even cortisone injections that cause fat atrophy in the trunk or extremities. Fat transfer is highly successful. The only uncertainty is whether the end result can be accomplished in one, two, or three sittings. There is an absorption rat of anywhere from 20% to 60% of the fat that is transferred from, let’s say, the abdominal or hip area into the facial area; however, a certain portion of the fat does live forever. These are living fat cells and, whether they represent 20% or 50% of the fat that is transferred, they will stay permanently in that location. Fat transfer sessions are usually spaced three months apart and, at that point in time, the experienced physician would know that percent of the fat has survived and what portion of the fat will have absorbed; therefore, a decision is then made between the physician and the patient as to whether any further fat transfers are indicated to get the ultimate result.

In summary, fat transfer is by far the most proven technique and the safest technique to augment various facial features, including the lips, laugh lines, frown lines, and cheeks. As a person ages, fat atrophy occurs throughout the face and often, with age, a person looks thinner. This occurs commonly in all parts of the face and, therefore, fat transfer would be the most logical choice for reversing signs of aging. Fat is taken from areas where normally fat will even be more prominent as one ages such as the abdomen, thighs, or the lower back area. This is one of the favorite spots to take fat from and to transfer it into areas where the normal aging process has led to absorption of fat cells.
