If you have never taken a fly fishing trip before and you
are planning on heading for the wilderness, take along a
buddy. At worst you’ll have someone to compete with during
the telling of one that got away stories. At best you’ll
have someone to help if trouble strikes.

Go prepared for all weathers and conditions. You’ll be
miserable if you spend several hours in freezing weather
dressed only in shorts and t-shirt.

Remember that the more remote the stream you are fishing,
the more easily spooked the fish will be. Approach the water
carefully and think for a while before you wade in.

Packing your gear for your fly fishing trip

Try out your gear before you leave on your fly fishing trip.
Broken tackle in remote areas is not easy to replace. Carry
some extras for emergency repairs.

Avid anglers will often take a small fly tying kit with them
so they can whip up a fly to match whatever is hatching on the
water. Others use scissors or clippers to trim a ready prepared
fly into an “almost matches the hatch” one.

Remember to take a current license with you. Murphy’s law
states that the only time you leave it behind is the time the
ranger will want to see it.

Before you leave, have a look at the fishing reports for the
area you are intending to fish. You’ll get good information
about what’s going on, including river levels, hatches and
other details.

When you arrive or get close to your destination, wander into
the local tackle store and speak with the sales people. They’ll
usually know what’s going on and have a few tips for you.

Guided or self-guided fly fishing trips

A guided fishing trip is a good idea if you are fishing
unfamiliar waters. Even a couple of hours with an expert will
give you hints and tips that apply to that particular spot.
You’ll spend more time in productive fishing.

Guided trips can cost you dearly. You’ll pay by the hour, by
the day, or by whatever the guide decrees. Some guided trips
will include tackle, some will not. The price will vary
accordingly.

If you are an experienced angler and expert at reading any
water then you’ll be able to get away without paying for a
guide. Sometimes peace and solitude is well worth a couple of
hours of getting used to the stream.

For me, the hike into the backcountry enhances the trip. I
take time to soak in the fresh air and admire the scenery. The
fishing is the climax, but the journey is well worth the time.

Fly fishing is more than just a sport, it is like painting
with many brushes. An extended fly fishing trip will enable you
to practice your artistry. If you return with nothing more
than a greater appreciation of the beauty of a trout, then
you will have returned a greater artist.

Who knew back then in the 1920’s that the National Football League would take the path to become what it has? In the 1920’s, a group of businessman and sports enthusiasts from the middle of America gathered in Canton, Ohio in a car showroom to discuss and strategize how they would take pro-football from a disorderly, ruthless game of disgrace to that of an organized league.

It is during this meeting in Canton in the showroom where the men defined rules, traded ideas, elected a board. The new league would be called the American Professional Football Association.

From the wooden, dusty arenas of the midwest including Hammond, Indiana, Akron, Ohio, and Rock Island, Illinois to the Duluth Eskimos in 1926 to Super Bowl 111 where Joe Namath and the AFL’s New York Jets displaced the NFL old guard.

In 1932, the first NFL championship game was played indoors on 80-yard field. While a lot about the game has evolved since the 1920’s, the emotion and pain of the football game remains the same.

Catherine Kenyeres is a freelance writer and publisher for http://www.best-4u-tickets.com. Catherine has written numerous articles for the sports enthusiast.

Let me start this article with a sincere “Thank You” to all of those who read my last article on “How to Buy World Series Tickets”. I was contacted by numerous individuals who asked about getting tickets to all kinds of sporting events. (Who knew when I started my search for World Series tickets for my husband that I would be nicknamed the “ticket lady”.) I have not had time to research getting tickets to all of these events, but I am taking them one at time…starting with the NCAA SEC Championship held in Atlanta, Georgia.

For those of you who live outside of the southeast, you are probably gleefully unaware of the seriousness to which college football is taken there. College football is a certifiable religion. SEC fans are much like the zealous evangelists proselytizing to the masses. (Of course, there is far more alcohol involved with the football.) There are 12 teams that comprise the SEC. The SEC Championship is the decisive game that crowns the winner of the very coveted SEC Football title.

My husband’s friend, Dave came to me and asked for my advice in finding SEC Championship tickets for his girlfriend. Apparently, she is an LSU Alumni and much like her fellow SEC-ites, she is a rabid fan. I immediately took up his cause. Here are a few strategies I discovered in my search:

Strategy #1

Talk to friends, family members, colleagues and your brother’s-wife’s-sister’s-boyfriend’s-mom’s-cousin who just happens to be a current ticket holder for the SEC Championship. Each year, current ticket holders have the opportunity to renew their SEC Championship tickets for the next SEC Championship game. Maybe you can sweet talk them in to letting you use the tickets for this year. If not…see Strategy #2.

Strategy #2

It may be a wise idea to go ahead and place your name on the 2006 SEC Championship Tickets Waiting List which is open from September 1st through December 31st. If there are any tickets available after the renewal period the SEC will randomly contact members on the tickets waiting list and give them the opportunity to buy tickets. Strategies #1, #2 and #3 maybe your only options to buy SEC Championship tickets at the face value, so it is definitely worth a shot. (**Note: the 2005 Waiting List is closed.)

Strategy #3

Contact the ticket office of the schools that are selected to participate in the SEC Championship and the Georgia Dome. Students, alumni and faculty usually get the first priority at the school box offices. All tickets sold through the ticket offices are sold for face value. The box office at the Georgia Dome will only release tickets if available, which is unlikely.

Strategy #4

Visit ConsumerChoiceReview.com. This is a great site that gives you all kinds of information about the major sporting events as well as various ticket brokers who specialize in the SEC Championship. You can feel confident that all of the ticket brokers listed on this site are reputable because consumers are allowed to review each ticket broker and their level of service. It even provides event information, so that you can impress your family and friends with your obscure sports knowledge!! Consumer Choice Review also gives you helpful information on how to protect yourself from purchasing counterfeit tickets.

Strategy #5

Another option for SEC Championship tickets is www.ebay.com. Ebay will have a plethora of tickets, but consumers should be aware that you could be paying top dollar for a ticket that is fraudulent. I have heard horror stories of people buying on Ebay, so I have always been leery of using it. I found some really good tips on using Ebay on Consumer Choice Review. This site provides a step by step guide to buying on Ebay.

Strategy #6

Go to the stadium and take the risk that there are no tickets available from scalpers. Or that the tickets that are available are ridiculously expensive or even worse, possibly counterfeit or stolen. I would never pay hundreds of dollars in cash for tickets that could turn out to be fake or stolen. You should always use a credit card because they offer protection of purchases that turn out to be fake or stolen tickets. ***Be very careful when taking this approach and be sure to read the tips posted on Consumer Choice Review prior to taking this strategy.

All in all, there are several options to find tickets to any sporting event you want to attend, whether it is the SEC Football Championship or the NCAA Final Four. The deciding factor is how much are you willing to pay? And what price are you willing to put on your protection as a consumer?

Football season is here, which means that for the next several
weeks - 90% of the male population of the US will spend an
enormous amount of their “free time” watching games on TV (the
bigger the screen, the better), attending football games
(Friday=high school, Saturday= college, Sunday & Monday=Pro),
and of course every day of the week they will be moaning,
groaning or crowing about their Fantasy League, uh, excuse me,
in most cases - make that Fantasy Leagues… because it seems
you can’t join just one.

Now, I grew up in a female dominated home - 3 women (mom, myself
and my sister) and one male (dad, unless you count the dog…but
he tended to be loyal to the person with the food in hand), and
I have to admit, we did tend to make Dad as miserable as
possible about his “obsession” with football. We whined and
fussed every time he tried to watch a game, and sooner or later
he would usually give up and let us watch “girl stuff”.

My first husband was never much of a sports fan, so for most of
my adulthood, my exposure to football was minimal, but fast
forward a few decades - new husband, new life…new lifestyle.

And suddenly I find myself in the midst of a VERY sports
oriented family - with a particular emphasis on football. So,
for the first time in my life, I found myself attending Friday
night high school games, rooting for my stepson as he ran up and
down the field, screaming at the refs even though I wasn’t
always quite sure WHY I was screaming but hey! you do get caught
up in the enthusiasm of the moment.

For 3 years, I never missed a game, through rain and snow, I
bundled up and cheered the team on, sometimes to victory and
sometimes to defeat. I grew to understand the game, and enjoyed
being a fan more with every game. I clapped along as the team
came to the home side after every victory and sang their fight
song, and endured long, quiet rides home when they lost.

But - I never truly understood the “obsession” until my
stepson’s last game in high school.

The game was over, the weather was cold and drizzly, the song
was done, and the seniors walked back out on the field one last
time, helmets in hand. They stood there, silently, exchanging
hugs and pats on the back, and one by one, they knelt to one
knee and just looked around, as the lights blinked out around
the stadium.

The silence was deafening - and the emotion overpowering.

Most of these boys had played football together since the age of
9, practicing and playing as a team for long months every year,
sharing bumps and bruises and injuries, big wins and bigger
losses, developing a camaraderie that few women will ever
experience.

And now suddenly - it was over. Most of the boys would never
again don the pads and the uniform, never again be part of that
team spirit. If you play baseball - you can play some form of it
for the rest of your life, but football is over for most men
with that last Friday night game in high school.

And so is born the obsession with all things football - it’s an
ongoing quest to recapture even just a small piece of that team
experience in high school, the closeness, the camaraderie that
made it worth all the work.

In just a few brief moments that night, I suddenly understand
the deep chasm left in these young men’s lives, the sudden
emptiness in their hearts, and I felt sadness for a loss that I
could never truly comprehend.

My stepson was fortunate - he now plays college ball on Saturday
so the “last game” has been delayed a bit. I still don’t share
the same enthusiasm for weekend football marathons as my husband
and his two sons - but at least I find it easier to understand
their passion/obsession, and that goes a long ways towards a
peaceful, happy weekend at home.

Of course, having more than one TV has also helped….

Acne

Understanding acne and the different types of acne people suffer from can help in determining what methods of acne control should be attempted without worsening the condition or possibly causing permanent damage to the skin. The medical community has had no luck in pinpointing the exact cause of acne and a single effective method for acne control, but the source of acne has been discovered to be the sebaceous glands. The sebaceous glands release an oil that turns into a firm white matter known as sebum. This sebum moves to the entrance of the hair follicles and bursts through the surface of the skin. Acne and blackheads are often the result of sebum on the skin.

Acne can be severe or mild and often require very different methods of acne control. The less severe form of acne is known as non-inflammatory acne where an individual experiences an occasional pimple or blackhead without excessive breakouts. Inflammatory acne affects almost everyone at some point, usually during his or her teen years. The only time non-inflammatory acne can be bothersome is if a person squeezes and picks at his or her acne, which could lead to infection and possible scarring.

A more severe and often unsightly form of acne is inflammatory acne. Inflammatory acne can make an individual quite self-conscious and always looking for the latest form of acne control. Inflammatory acne is characterized by plenty of pimples and pocks on the face as well as other parts of the body including the back, neck, chest and even groin. This type of acne can be quite uncomfortable and ultimately cause scarring. When all types of over the counter acne control products have been tried, most people with inflammatory acne must use prescription medication and even surgery in order to obtain acne control.

Anyone who suffers from acne can do try a number of different ways to control acne and prevent it from returning. Although a connection between diet and acne has not been able to be established, some people have had success in acne control by changing their diet. Buy reducing the amount of fatty foods and sugar that is consumed, acne may thin out. The introduction of natural fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains into a person’s daily diet can aid in acne control as well as assist in the healing of skin tissue that has been damaged by acne.

In addition to changing the kind of food that is consumed to try and control acne, the introduction of specific vitamins can also help in improving the skin’s condition. Adding Zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B with extra B6 and Vitamin E have been shown to help with acne conditions. Certain herbs in tea have been used in attempts to control acne like Echinacea, Dandelion Root, Nettles and Burdock.

Certain person hygiene behaviors can contribute to how severe acne can become and the kind of damage that can occur. In order to control existing acne, avoid touching the skin where the acne is as hands can transfer additional oil on to the face and make the condition worse. Hair can cause additional sweat and oils to be released on to the face so pulling hair off of the face can help to avoid worsening any acne condition. Do not use soaps or lotions that have any kind of oil base. Water-based creams and make up are often gentle enough for skin with acne.

Treating acne will most likely never eliminate the condition. Treatment is only successful when trying to control acne. If acne begins to clear with a particular treatment, it is important to continue with that treatment because the acne will return without the treatment. If all personalized attempts to control acne fail, a dermatologist is likely to be able to offer a number of treatment options with some success.

Always dream of owning one of those high end sports cars but
never could afford it?

Never mind, there is always a way out.

Have you thought of owning your own radio control car which is
a replica of your favourite car?

Here are some reasons why rc cars
are so popular. The cost of owning a rc car is a fraction of the
original thing. You have the option of buying a ready to run
model or you can get a kit where you assemble the different
parts together. When you have built it, you feel a sense of
pride and dignity and achievement. You can actually custom it so
no one else has the same car as you. The advantage of kit
assembly cars is that you can always repair and change the parts
as you wish.

This is a really fun hobby. Just driving the rc car around sure
attracts attention. This is a good way to meet and make new
friends. I ‘m sure your kids will be thrilled to play with rc
cars too. You can develop a father child bond and relationship
by playing the rc cars together. You can race the car without
getting injured. For those who haven’t learnt driving this is a
good way to race cars.

Driving rc cars improves your hand eye coordination. You learn
about physics, maths and laws of motions as you compete in car
races. Building, tuning or upgrading and driving RC cars also
builds up your knowledge of how a car works. It is advisable for
beginners to start off with electric rc cars as they are cheaper
to own and maintain. They are also simpler to maintain. As you
learn more about rc cars you can upgrade to gas powered rc cars.
They are faster and the run time can be limitless as the refuel
time takes only a few seconds. They make car engine noise and
emit exhaust fumes adding to the realism of actually driving a
real car.

You can choose from off road or on road vehicles. Off road
vehicles are versatile and let you drive them on practically any
terrain. There is no need to hunt for a special ground to drive
your RC car. If you are game for it, you can take part in
informal or regional competition or you can take it to the next
level and compete in international competition organised by the
International Federation of Model Auto Racing.

The best way to increase your earnings from betting is to develop a basketball betting guide. Such a guide will help you cut your losses, and increase your earnings. This is precisely how professional bettors operate. They don’t place bets on whims and fancies as is the general belief, but after considerable hard work. In contrast, amateur bettors go with the public mood. They win some, and loose more. So if you want to win you must have your own betting guide. This guide should include the following details:

1. Know your teams. Go through the newspaper reports carefully. Also listen to the team analysis done by professionals on the TV. Make a list of the strong and weak points of the players in each team, and the performance of teams at home and away. A good guide should cover at least two, if not three, seasons. Check which players are injury-prone and are likely to miss big games. Work out the impact of their absence on team performance. Use an Excel sheet, and make a noting of team ratings by different newspapers, TV channels and websites. Based on this, arrive at you own rating.

2. Team Motivation: several bets go wrong because the bettor has not evaluated the motivation level of a team to win a game. A team that has already qualified will save its best for the final. It would rest its key players or experiment with new team formations. These are useful strategies that coaches adopt. In contrast, a team that is facing elimination will go the extra mile to win, even if the opposition is full of stars. Team performances are also affected by back to back matches. A team may be too drained to put up its best when made to play a game the next day, and end up loosing to a weaker team. Your guide will alert you to these possibilities.

3. Follow a match closely: Your guide must have a column that must describe in detail why your team won or lost. Very often, the final scores do not tell the correct tale of a match. A team that may have lost may have actually played better basketball. Such match descriptions will help you form a better opinion of teams, and their players.

4. Public opinion: Strong public opinion in favor of a team leads to heavy betting on them. Every one wants to wager on a team that is winning. This makes the bookies reduce the odds. Even if you win, your earnings are meaningless. So, stay away from such teams or bet low on them. Put you money on teams that are dark horses or strong fighters.

5. Make more straight bets: It is better to win four straight bets and loose two over a week, than to go for two parlays and lose both. Parlays can bring you big money, but the stakes are very high. Even one wrong result can undo your good work.

Everybody knows how important an explosive offense or a stifling defense can be for a football team, and everyone can name the big stars on both sides of the ball Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson and Terrell Owens are household names and they make headlines every Sunday. But there is another, less heralded, often overlooked part of a football team that is very important: special teams. Studying special teams can become a valuable part of your handicapping strategy. The five categories of special teams are kickoff, kick return, punting, punt return and field goal teams and there are several factors that come into play with regard to studying them.

Field Position — Winning and losing in the NFL is largely a matter of field position. Field position is determined in large part by special teams. Teams that win the battle of field position often win the game.

Kicker — Placekickers and punters are the keys to special teams. If a team has a guy who can boom a punt from deep in his own territory, or a guy who is accurate in long field goal situations, that translates into better field position and points, respectively, and ultimately results in more victories.

Return Man — A guy with great hands and blinding speed like the Chiefs’ Dante Hall is a game changer capable of scoring anytime he touches the ball, and by virtue of that, he really ups the value of a team’s kickoff and punt return units.

Speed Kills — The old football cliché is especially true for special teams. Kick coverage demands that players get down the field in a hurry and put a hat on somebody. Otherwise, the other team can pick up extra yards for free, get better field position and score more easily.

Tacklers — Speed is great. In fact, it is necessary. But without good tacklers on special teams, it doesn’t mean a whole lot. You need coverage guys who can break down quickly and wrap guys up in the open field.

Long Snappers — Here’s a position that you don’t hear too much about unless something goes wrong, as happened to the NY Giants a couple years ago against the 49ers.

Crazies — You always want to have a few guys who have no regard for their bodies and are willing to sacrifice themselves by flying full speed all over the field, breaking the wedge, and generally creating havoc.

Smarts — It’s not enough to have speed, good tacklers, and craziness. The players also need to be smart. Things like knowing when to let the ball go, when to fair-catch and not getting plays called back with careless penalties can make a huge difference in a game.

Special teams are often populated by third and fourth receivers, rookies, and guys who otherwise might not play, so it helps sometimes to follow college football, and notice guys, say in the defensive secondary, who are fast and are big hitters. If they were studs in college, and catch on with an NFL team, they can help to improve the special teams. A good example of this is Carolina Panthers’ rookie Thomas Davis, who was awesome in college at the University of Georgia and really strengthens Carolina’s special teams coverage units.

With other factors being equal, the team with the better special teams play has a huge advantage. Good special teams can keep a team in a game against an otherwise superior team, and that makes a closer look at underdogs with good units an interesting proposition. For favorites, a dominant squad can really open the floodgates and keep the other team in the hole as far as field position goes.

Special teams are just that: special. It’s hard to overstate their importance. Remember when you are doing your homework on NFL teams not to neglect special teams because they can and often do make the difference in outcomes.

Flavones are the latest big supplement to hit the market. Methoxyisoflavone is a non-hormonal anabolic compound that has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, increase protein synthesis and improve recovery from exercise.

During tests that led to the issuing of a patent for methoxyisoflavone the following findings were noted:

1. It was found to be more anabolic than anabolic steroids without any of the side effects.

2. It increased lean body mass significantly within 30 days while producing no androgenic effect.

3. Cortisol levels were reduced and nitrogen levels increased considerably.

Flavones can be safely taken by men and women who want to boost their lean muscle gains without risking the hazards associated with taking anabolic steroids. A dose of 400-800 mg can be taken daily, split over two doses. Its effects can be enhanced by taking it with protein due to the ability of protein to force nutrients into muscle cells.

Methoxy can also be stacked safely with ZMA to maximise testosterone gains, or ecdysterone to increase protein synthesis, maintain a positive nitrogen balance and keep the body in an anabolic state.
