These turbines have three main components: the propeller assembly or rotor, the tower, and the nacelle.1) The propeller assembly is made up of the propeller blades and the hub. The most common and probably most economical and mechanically efficient propeller design is the one with three blades. Propellers are usually manufactured from carbon fiber, fiberglass, aluminum, steel, wood, or a combination of one or more types of materials. This is harder to do than you may think, but once done it changed the wind power world. The trick to was getting the parts needed through sources involving recycled and reused donation. It is now very possible to get almost all the parts you need to build domestic wind turbines for little or no cost.Basically, the whole system shifted to something that is pretty amazing: cheap power that almost anyone can now take advantage of. From years of trial and error came the formula to make a very cheap wind turbine that is powerful at the same time. The key advantages of wind turbines have to do with price. The cost is now a couple hundred dollars and the benefit is about 80% off of your electric bill every month. That sounds like something that would become popular, right? It has, but that isn the reason for its popularity. Most of the new technology works well in an urban or suburban environment where some wind turbulence is inevitable unless the turbine is sited well above any surrounding buildings. A HAWT has to physically rotate to face into the wind every time the direction changes, requiring a large tower to place the rotors above all obstructions. The VAWT doesn require such clearances and can keep producing power in these turbulent areas.
